The HSE Girls Track Team traveled to Lafayette on Tuesday for the IHSAA Regional meet. The team scored 100 points which would many times win the meet, but Carmel won 8 events and scored 127 points to win the team title. Elia Blackmore led the way again, winning both hurdle races and setting 2 records. She set the meet record in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.49 and set a new school record in the 300 hurdles with 42.94. Chloe Senefeld was also under the previous record as she came in 2nd with a time of 42.98. Anissa Lammie was victorious in the 400 with a time of 55.53 which just missed the meet record of 55.52. Elizabeth Butler was runner-up in the 1600 and 3200 and Ciara Kepner placed 2nd in the 800 with a season best time. The 4x100 relay of Blackmore, Senefeld, Laila Ehrgott, and Kaleah McCarter ran a season best time of 47.75 to place second. The 4x400 relay team of Kepner, Senefeld, Addison Smith, and Lammie also ran a season best time of 3:49.90 to place second. The 4x800 relay team of Smith, Kepner, Ava Powers, and Lammie also ran a season best time of 9:22.89 to place third. All that placed in the top 3 advance to State at North Central on June 7. Also making it to state was Catey Campbell in the 1600 where she ran a PR of 5:02.30 which was fastest enough for a callback as she was the fastest in the 1600 that did not place in the top 3 around the 8 regionals. Riley Williams had a PR in the pole vault of 11' 0" which was 5th. Kaleah McCarter earned points by placing 7th in both the 100 and 200. Micaiah Bullock and Natalie Arnold also scored points by placing 7th in the 100 hurdles and 8th in the long jump respectively. Congratulations to seniors EJ Shults (long jump), Katie Wooden (shot put), and Lucy Hagan (high jump) that finished their track careers as regional qualifiers! Results and splits are attached below
