Today the boys put the icing on the cake with both the 1 singles player (Abhi Manikandan) and the 1 doubles team (Brady Stump/Logan Foust) playing in the individual state finals. They were supported by a host of HSE teammates and fans, and they didn't disappoint. Abhi played a marathon 3 hr. semi-final match to put himself into the championship match. There he played great but just couldn't quite pull out the win. Still, he finished as the second-best singles player in the state. What a great finish for this Freshman. The 1 doubles team came ready to close this out. Despite a small hiccup in the second set of the semi-final match against Brebeuf, they still managed to secure a straight set victory. In the final, they were completely locked in and closed this out quickly to be crowned the top team in the state. We started this year as the first team to practice with our Midnight Madness, and we finished as the last team still on the courts on the last day of competition. What a great season for the #1 Royals.
